Geneva Peace Week:

2023 | November

In early November 2023, the Geneva Peace Week (GPW) convened under the banner “Building Trust, Creating Peace: An Agenda for the Future.” This annual gathering, since its inception in 2008, has been a cornerstone for peace stakeholders, fostering dialogue, facilitating cross-sectoral interaction, and deepening insights into the complexities of peace consolidation. At the forefront of discussions, moderated by the German Federal Foreign Office jointly hosted with Interpeace, was the imperative topic of “Peacebuilding and private finance actors: investing in partnerships that create peace.”

Central to these discussions was the Investing for Peace Initiative (I4P), a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Department S for Crisis Prevention, Stabilization, Peacebuilding, and Humanitarian Assistance of the German Federal Foreign Office, in tandem with the UN Peacebuilding Support Office and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). Emphasizing the critical role of strategic investments in conflict-affected regions, the I4P aims to channel resources towards initiatives that not only mitigate conflicts but actively contribute to their resolution.
